Hello! I’m Michelle, a 3rd year Interactive Arts and Technology student interested in Design and Interactive Systems. I joined Business of Design because I thought that it would be a fun experience that was different then other courses I had taken.  Reflecting back on the class,  I think that this course has definitely changed me for the better. I learned a lot about myself as a person along with what I am passionate about through the different projects. I also learned a lot about sustainability and how to incorporate it in my daily life through even the smallest of actions.

In IAT 330, some of the sustainable prototypes I created were: a recycling program for school supplies, and a bear and book made of recycled materials which encourages kids to be brave. The group prototype I participated in was the creative influence challenge, where my friend and I did a seven day challenge where we tried to acknowledge where we were being both sustainable and unsustainable.  In addition to these in class projects, I also began developing the habit of using a reusable cup and attended my first clothing swap.

All in all, I am looking forward to continuing with Business of Design in the spring and summer semesters.  This program has influenced how I look at things in my day to day life, and I am excited to continue learning with the rest of the cohort.
